Elizabeth Fulhame: Pioneer of Dyeing Chemistry

Elizabeth Fulhame was a British woman who lived in the 1700s. She was very interested in chemistry. At that time, women could not study science in schools. But Elizabeth studied chemistry by herself at home.

She did many experiments with dyes and colors. She wanted to make better colors for clothes. Elizabeth used metals and chemicals to make the colors stronger. Her work helped make clothes more colorful and beautiful.

In 1794, Elizabeth wrote a book about her experiments. The book was called 'An Essay on Combustion'. She explained how to make better dyes using science. Some important scientists read her book and liked her work.

Today, many people do not know about Elizabeth Fulhame. But she was one of the first women to do serious chemistry experiments. She helped start the science of making dyes and colors for textiles.
